Structure of Dictionary Entries

Start page Go to the Dictionary

An entry in the electronic dictionary consists of the following sections:

  • Headword (lemma)
  • Part-of-speech indication
  • Grammatical information
  • English translation of the headword
  • Russian translation of the headword
  • German translation of the headword
  • Dialectal and subdialectal identification of illustrative examples
  • Examples illustrating the headword’s meaning, with translations into English and Russian
  • Source of the illustrative example
  • Unlike the printed version, which listed Ket verbs in a separate volume, the electronic version combines all parts of speech in a single, alphabetically ordered list.

Headwords for all parts of speech except verbs are sorted according to their citation forms. In the case of verbs, the headwords are represented by special stem formulas that include both lexical elements and TAM (tense-aspect-mood) markers; these are sorted alphabetically based solely on their lexical elements.
